I am so excited to be hosting my first ever Sole Hope Shoe Cutting Party on Sunday.  Sole Hope is an organization that caters to preventing foot borne diseases that can be easily prevented by wearing shoes that children don’t often have. It also has major social stigma associated with it making it hard to get help.

I first heard about Sole Hope from Jessica Gianelloni who is the Young Living leader that I signed up under was leading teams to Uganda every year and I would often see her posts about Sole Hope. When I attended my first Young Living convention 2.5 years ago, I heard about this once again as Young Living had decided to partner with Jessica to help support Sole Hope. You have heard me talk about Young Living’s Wellness, Purpose and Abundance often and Purpose is one of the reasons that I got attracted to YL. Projects like these are amazing and it makes it even better when you can participate in doing something.

Life totally got in the way since then and since I was not planning to go to Uganda to help out, it totally got put away until a few weeks ago when I heard about the Sole Hope Shoe Cutting Party.

Being 8 months pregnant, I knew that if I did not start something now, it would be hard to start something like this with a newborn. Hence, decided to host it now.

All it involves is participants showing with old jeans, scissors, and some plastic files. Using a template provided, we all cut pieces of the fabric, attach them with a pin and send it back with an optional donation of $10 per person. This will help them make the finished shoes. It is such a tangible way of giving back which does not involve money.

I am touched and thrilled at the response I have received from the community about this. I am delighted to say that 10 people which was my limit have decided to participate. I will post pictures from the event once it is over.

Are All Essential Oils Created The Same?

I often get asked why can’t I buy Essential Oils from the local market or why do I have to pay 20 something $ for a bottle of Lavender instead of $9.99. Read on…..

The Essential Oils industry is one of the most fast growing ones and is expected to double in the next 5 years. It is supposed to reach a $50 Billion mark by the year 2020.

Why is it gaining so much popularity? Because people like you and me are demanding healthy toxin free products and see the benefits of essential oils. Just ask your local farmer: Spray them with chemicals to keep bugs off and weeds away so you don’t have to pay people to tend the fields (exactly why I love our local organic farmers!! It is a labor of love!!)

2. Dump chemicals into the still during distillation (the process where you get the oils out of the plants) to speed up the time it takes to get the oils out of the plants. Time = money. Unfortunately for the companies that do this, they don’t realize that essential oil distillation is a science, and without the science, you can actually harm the heck out of people’s bodies. (How do you know, Nicole?? Well, I’ve seen it first-hand.)

This is your Public Service Announcement (PSA) for the year. Don’t waste your money or risk your health. Young Living October 2016 Promotion

One of the reasons I love Young Living as a company is because of the generous gifts they give to members. Take October for instance, there are so many awesome promotions this month, that I am almost overwhelmed in figuring out how to write about it.

Having a small child at home, I never have to worry about whether he will get into my cleaning cabinet because even if he does, it is super safe.

Back To School – Keeping the Immune System Up

This second post is about keeping the kiddos & everyone in the family healthy. 

In my home, when the kiddo gets sick, all things come to a stand still. So, when I found a few things that have worked this past year when he has been in school for the first time in his life, we have stuck to it like nobody’s business.

Print The first is Thieves EO. No one in our home leaves without either applying Thieves to our foot or taking a drop of Thieves Vitality with honey or NingXia Red everyday. Talking about NingXia Red, did you know that you only need an ounce or two of NingXia Red to stay healthy? We do this diligently.

I personally also need my shot of NingXia Nitro around 3:00 pm to get through the rest of my day still staying focussed. I also encourage my hubby to do the same instead of drinking coffee or tea at that time of the day.

The other things we do unrelated to oils is eat a healthy breakfast everyday – connecting as a family is important every morning before we part ways, get adequate rest, exercise. Ok, the latter two sometimes gets compromised, but since the intention is there, we at least strive for it. A healthy mind and body is needed for being ‘Mighty And Strong’.

Back To School Series – Rise and Shine

I am doing a ‘Back to School’ series in the next up coming weeks.

The first one is about mornings. I don’t know about you, but waking up in the morning and getting a child / children ready for school can be a challenge. I only have one toddler to get out of the house and invariably we are fighting being late for his toddler program. Since he is in school only for a few hours, I need him to leave on time so I can maximize my working day when he is away.

Morning blues can be tough. Can oils really help with that? You probably know what I will say, right? YES….

Print Oils like Joy, Lemon and Peppermint can serve as a wake up in the mornings. I love diffusing Lemon or Peppermint when I am getting breakfast ready or getting the kiddo dressed. Adding Lemon EO to my water can also be refreshing and cleansing.

Combo of Lemon and Joy in the diffuser is uplifting and creates a positive attitude.
