Stress Away

OMG! yesterday was one of those days when stress hit me from everywhere right from when I woke up. We all have had days when we wake up with the million “to do” items on your mind. Yes, it was one of those days when I woke up with tons of anxiety and million things I needed to get done. Being busy focussing on my up coming classes, my husband Asad being busy at work including traveling for work, the kiddo feeling insecure about all these changes, I felt that my mind was stuck in a whirlwind.

Before the kiddo was born, I used to meditate every morning before starting my day. Now, if I can get 5 minutes to actually focus on my breath, I am happy.

Having woken up like that, I decided to not get going on my “to do” items. Instead, I decided to sit down for meditation. But before I did that, I applied some Frankincense on my temples and my ever favorite, Stress Away to my wrists and behind my ears. It totally calmed me down allowing me to meditate and take an inventory of my life and day.

I then sat for a bit which really helped my morning. I also added a few drops of Stress Away to my water before we went to Walden pond. It really helped me stay focused on my son and stay in the present moment. So, after I put him down his nap , I was able to leave the house (the baby sitter was there)  and focus on the tasks at hand. I actually got a lot more done than what I would have if I had started my day with that level of anxiety and frenzy.

Every person needs to have a bottle of StressAway with them at all times. I carry it in my kit at all times. It is this great blend of Copaiba, Lime, Cedarwood, Vanilla, Ocotea and Lavender. It smells divine. Try some….

Second Part

In this blog, I wanted to write about something that stood out to me as I spent 3 days in the convention – Women. My intention is not to exclude men or to say that men did not make a difference, but I really noticed the shear volume of women present. What stood out to me about them is that they were there for a single cause – to make a difference, whether it was for their families or in the world.

Taking charge of your wellbeing is an empowering feeling, and these women were committed to that. I saw women from all walks of life, of all colors, of all ages and it was beautiful. I saw women who were there with babies as young as 3 weeks old, it was quite a sight.

Many of these women have already made a huge difference in the world like Jessica Gianelloni who goes every year to Uganda in service of orphans. She brings with her, not only her team but also healthy food, essential oils and supplements, money and donation to help these children who have spent most of their lives on the streets. Or on a much smaller scale, the woman who offered for me to sit with her and her family as I was sitting by myself. It was so heartwarming for me as I did not know anyone when I went to the convention.

It was empowering experience for me. These quotes represent what I observed there
“A woman is like a tea bag – you never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

“A woman is the full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform.” – Diane Mariechild

So, all you women out there, keep doing what you do even if it feels insignificant. It MAKES a difference even if you can’t see the results now.

Young Living

I wanted to share my experiences about Young Living after going to their convention last week. This is going to be a two part series as it is too long to put into one post.

To be honest, even though I had been using their oils and oil infused products for the past 2 years and love their products,  I had skeptical parts about the hype about the company.

I often make decisions on gut and the reason to go to the convention for four days was also an intuitive one as it was difficult to leave my life and my toddler, who I still nurse at least 3/4 times a day. But going to the convention gave me more insight about Young Living and also validated my decision to choosing this company over others for my family.

First hand, I saw how committed and full of integrity Gary Young, the founder is. He is a farmer at heart and still likes to farm the old fashioned way using horses and equipment that many would consider out dated. The reason I am writing this is that I saw how much he connects with Earth, has the knowledge and refuses to compromise on the quality. For instance, he talked about Helichrysm which is grown in Croatia. This year they had 75% less quantity than last year because of poaching. Helicrhrysm is a valuable plant as it is known for its restorative properties. As many companies try to make money of it, they are often adulterated especially at this time due to the scarcity, so please please do your research before buying essential oils. Gary talked about how he will never ever compromise on the quality and will not add anything to these gifts from Earth.

The other thing that really touched me was the Philanthropic efforts by The Young Living Foundation. They are supporting various causes around the Globe including building schools in Ecuador, getting orphans off the street in Uganda to name a couple. I saw some amazing before and after footage of their efforts and it was really moving. The generosity of the members of the Young Living community was also astounding. They raised around one million dollars for these causes during the convention.

So, it was an empowering experience seeing first hand why I have chosen this company and its products to support the wellbeing of my family.

Good Night!!

Often people have asked me about my son sleeping 11 – 12 hours a night. Yes, touch wood, he does that pretty much every night unless sick. So, here is my little secret and of course it has to do with essential oils, right!!!

I diffuse any of the oils that effect relaxation – Valor, Lavender, or Cedarwood. Many people love and swear by Peace & Calm, but it has had the opposite effect on my little guy. It makes him more alert. If needed, I might apply a couple of drops of one of these on his big toes on his foot.

I have also made a lotion that I often use on my husband and I and sometimes on my little guy. Here is the recipe..

Sleepcream-New Version

3/4  cup of coconut oil (optional – whipped up for a creamy consistency)
8 Drops of Lavender
8 Drops of Cedarwood
8 Drops of Valor or Peace & Calm or both.
